Amin Bakhshian was born in Ahvaz, Iran. After working as assistant director for short films and TV dramas in Iran, he decided to learn the field of filmmaking in an academic way. He gained his degree in Film and Media and started to make his own short films. As his degree was theoretically based, he felt he wanted to further his experiences in the the technical aspects of filmmaking. As a result, he started an MA degree at the London Film School, where he had the opportunity to grow as a technical filmmaker. His main focus became writing and directing. His favorite kind of films are works of social realism, which influenced his directing style. He loves a wide range of social realist films, but cites Michael Haneke, Dardenne brothers, Abbas Kiarostami and Ken Loach as his central influences. DEEP BREATH is his graduation project, which he wrote and directed and his next short film COLD BIRTH is currently in post-production.
